For Tja Ling, words can feel restrictive. Her drawings are the way she translates and shares her explorations into the psyche, looking for answers to questions buried deep among different dimensions, be they philosophical, psychological or found in psychedelic experiences. Minute details, soft shades and playful lines invite the viewer up close, making them part of an intimate exchange open to personal interpretation. Although her works are figurative, there’s room for the creation of individual narratives, allowing traditional boundaries of culture and privacy to be transcended. Emotions and intuition are the conversations that arise in interaction with Tja Ling’s work, with the image forming the first piece of dialog. Universal connectedness as both question and conclusion, with each subconscious playing its part.
